Port Royal: A Solo Pirate Story Generator is a solo pirate roleplaying game that uses simple dice-rolling mechanics to generate a story with a “choose your own adventure”-like design. The various prompts, events, and encounters lead you through a distinctive pirate career, typically with several ups and downs. It can be played as is or as a journaling game. It has good “replayability”—no two adventure stories will be the same. The general design and mechanics are similar to Rock Band: A Solo RPG Story Generator

The default setting is the privateering era of the Caribbean buccaneers of the mid- to late- 17th century, before the golden age of piracy. These were the glory days of the debauched English Port Royal on the island of Jamaica—a welcoming home base for English privateers and pirates of all stripes, including the audacious Welsh privateer Sir Henry Morgan (1635-1688). The game primarily simulates the historical privateers of the era, including a political component that simulates the changing alliances that made privateering a difficult business. But it also contains nods to the fantasy pirates of Pirates of the Caribbean and countless fantasy-inspired pirate settings.
